Funny Sailor Moon Story

I have a funny story about Sailor Moon. More relating to the dub of the anime and the original manga. I have to say this is a kind of a weird coincidence.

First back story: I am both a dubbie and a subbie. Though I admit I'm a bigger fan of the first two season's dub then of the third and fourth. Whenever I meet someone who prefers one variation over the other I must argue the opposite. Why? Because I love a good debate. Anyways....

One thing that is well known in Sailor Moon canon was that during the Silver Millennium that all of Sailor Moon's senshi were each a princess of her respective planet. This is stated in the manga but not in the original anime. However in the English dub the episode "Memories Return! Usagi and Mamoru's Past" (or "A Reluctant Princess" as the dub title) Artimes reveals that each Sailor Senshi was a princess of her own respective planet.

Now I had always assumed that they had gotten this tidbit of info from the manga. However I just realized that is impossible. That episode aired on TV dubbed for the first time on October 23, 1995. The volume of the manga where it is revealed that the senshi were princesses was volume 15. Which came out on July 5, 1996. That was a full nine months after that episode premiered. Which means that there was no way the people making the dub could have known that all the senshi were princesses.
